Know an Artist? Encourage them to apply.

Know Someone? Say Something!

The women artists in your life need and deserve all the support you can give them. Even in 2026, art by women in museum collections, auction sales and gallery representation for women artists still falls short compared to their male counterparts. This issue will not be fixed by a single museum (although The Muskegon Museum of Art is trying!), gallerist, auction sale, or collector (although Steven Alan Bennett and Elaine Melotti Schmidt are giving it their all!). No, it’s going to take a lot of small steps by many individuals to bring true equity and inclusion to the art world. And you can be a part of that! You can make a huge difference by encouraging the women artists in your life to apply for The Bennett Prize.

Do you have a woman figurative painter in your life? Maybe she is a family member? Perhaps a friend? Someone whose work you always enjoy seeing at art fairs or your local gallery? Chances are, she would benefit from applying for The Bennett Prize and we encourage you to nominate her! Sometimes all you need is someone in your corner, believing that you can accomplish a major goal to give you the confidence you need to do it. So join The Bennett Prize’s mission of encouraging women painters to take their place among the most celebrated painters dominating the art world today. You never know when and how your confidence in someone will turn into something that will change the art world forever.

Call for entries is open now through September 19th, 11:59 p.m. MST. Visit thebennettprize.org for complete rules for entry. For more details and to apply, please visit: https://opportunities.wearecreativewest.org/opportunity/16813/CAFE
